Went to the Bentham Agricultural Show On Saturday. Lots of things to see. Kids really enjoyed it. Wish we had been able to enter the big red dog for competitions but needed to be groomed properly and we had not had the time to get him into shape. Lots of people complimented him and told us he should have been entered. The joys of owning a pedigree dog! Actually, though he can be a pain in the neck, he behaved impeccably. He's growing on me, much to my family's amazement!
Had a really strong cup of tea, kind you can stand a spoon in......... Nice soup though.
Lots of competitions for people to enter. Photographs, paintings, handwriting, crafts, cooking, etc. Next year should definitely get kids to enter. May even win something.
Fabulous (is that the right word?) livestock and categories to enter them in. Waggiest tail..... best udder (or am I making that up????). Saw a friend's son showing a goat but his heart wasn't in it. Looked embarrassed. Wonderful sight of hounds running round the show field. Went over to the Birds of Prey stall; beautiful birds. Everybody fell in love with the American Kestrel, which was tiny.
Tara went off and spent time with her friends. Seemed to enjoy the day.
Adam (9) pretended to have a fit when he saw one of his teachers from school. Luckily she has a sense of humour. He fell in love with a vintage car. Offered the man 33 pounds, all he has in the world. Surprisingly the man turned him down. Then he looked at tractors and sat in the driver's seat. Only downside of the day there with him was that he wanted to spend money on idiotic games, with zero chance of winning....
Got home about 5. Cooked lentils and rice for supper!
Sunday was busy. Getting Melissa ready and set for her work in Newcastle. Drove her in at 1.00pm and then took the two younger kids to watch "Scott Pilgrim versus the world." at Vue in Lancaster. 10 people in the cinema... Shame really, quite a funny film. Nachos, followed by pasta for food. Read last of the Twilight Series of books. Keeping up with my daughter - that's my excuse....
